How to use this calculator
Measure the waist at the midpoint between the lowest rib and the top of the hip. Measure the hips at their widest point. Divide waist circumference by hip circumference. Keep both values in the same unit system.
What the result can tell you
This adult screening ratio does not measure body-fat percentage. Thresholds vary with population and measurement method. A value below a threshold does not establish low overall health risk. Do not apply the adult interpretation to children or pregnancy.
