Privacy & your measurements

The calculator performs its arithmetic on your device. The site does not send your input measurements or calculated results to an application database. Temporary inputs are shared between tools during your open visit so you do not need to enter them again.

We write measurement history to browser local storage only after you select Save or import a valid backup. The habits assessment keeps answers in memory only and saves them when you select Save on this device. Anyone who can use that browser profile may be able to read it. Local storage is not an encrypted medical record. Private browsing or clearing site data can remove saved history. One setting is remembered without a Save step: when you change a units control, the site stores that screen preference (metric or US units, kilocalories or kilojoules) in local storage so other calculators open the same way. It contains no measurements. The site team can also mark its own browsers in local storage so their visits are not counted in analytics. That mark contains no measurements either.

Use My measurements to export JSON for backup or CSV for a spreadsheet. Calculator log imports are read locally, validated, and added when you select a valid file. Backups of older saved results use a separate review step. Exported files contain personal inputs and results. Keep them somewhere appropriate. You can remove individual calculator results and undo the latest removal. The older results log also has a clear-history control. Records from a different formula version remain available for backup without being silently recalculated.

Cloudflare serves the website and may process ordinary connection information under its privacy policy. Anonymous page-view analytics are on by default on public pages at bodynumeral.com, with no consent banner. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives the public page path plus ordinary device and connection information. The page path excludes query strings and fragments. We also count visits with PostHog in cookieless mode. It sets no cookies, keeps its data in page memory only, and does not collect names, email addresses, or account details. PostHog receives your IP address only to make a daily cookieless hash for counting visitors and does not store it. It also receives the public page path and the referring page without query strings or fragments, ordinary device and connection information, and a short note when a calculator shows a result, when a result is shared or saved on this device, or when you follow the link under a result to another calculator. That note names only the calculator, the kind of result or share, or the fixed page the link goes to, never what you entered. If a script on a public page fails, PostHog also receives the standard type of error and where in the site's code it failed. The error text itself is not sent, because it can quote what you typed. PostHog counting is off when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Neither service records page views for measurement history, shared-result pages, or other private routes, and neither receives calculator inputs, results, or saved history. Google Signals, advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are disabled. We do not add session replay or photo processing. Source links open third-party sites with their own policies. Download and print actions stay local until you choose to send a file elsewhere.

There is no cloud synchronization, account recovery, or automatic backup. Public pages contain educational information, not your personal records. Measurements are absent from server-rendered pages and search metadata. If you select Copy link with my inputs, the link contains your calculation inputs after the # character. That part is read in the browser and is not sent to our server in the page request. Anyone you give the link to can read those inputs. Shared result pages are marked noindex.
